Keeping in Touch - May

Hi there!

Single Boots AGM

Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual General Meeting on April 15th. There were 25 members present.

Here is a resumé:

  • Norman thanked everyone for the walks they had contributed throughout the year and reported that although the average numbers on walk before Christmas was 12, this increased to 15 afterwards despite the difficult weather conditions.

  • Our membership currently stands at 61 full members and 20 temporary members. The new website has attracted new members along with the flyers, advertising in local papers and our business cards. We will also be advertising in Trail and Country Walking over the next few months to boost our membership.

  • Members were encouraged to register and login to our website.

  • The club is in an acceptable financial position despite showing a larger deficit this year. This is due mainly to lower membership numbers.

  • It was proposed and unanimously carried to increase our membership fee to £20 for 2019. This was considered necessary in the light of lower membership numbers, the increased expense of advertising and the website and May weekend liabilities. This will be reviewed year on year.

  • Committee members were voted in and they are listed at the end of our programmes.

  • Navigation days are to be organised this year, watch this space!

  • Health and Safety: Members were reminded that we need to walk on the RHS of the road. There was a proposal to identify first-aiders on our walks.

As always, if you would like any further information, please contact any member of the committee.
