Keeping in Touch - August

Hi there!

Thank you to Val for a brilliant weekend based in Porlock with two wonderful coastal walks and warm sunny weather. Porlock’s campsite was ideal and those at the local B&Bs were able to join in with the sociable evenings sitting outside with food and drinks. The Saturday evening meal at the Ship Inn was excellent. Some members extended their weekend with extra walks and a visit to Dunster Castle.

Don’t forget to send any good photos to David M for the website! You can do this in the “Sharing” section of the members’ pages.

Leading walks We have some comprehensive advice on our website to help you lead your walk. Please go to the members’ area and click on the “Walking Safely” picture. This will take you to a section on leading walks and we’d like to encourage everyone to read or revise the Leaders’ Notes which can be found there.

If you are a full member and haven’t yet logged into the members’ area, we urge you to do so – there is a lot of useful information there!

Walks Calendar: We are looking for walks on the following dates:

September 16th (coinciding with the Sussex weekend away)

October 14th and 21st

November 11th; 18th and 25th

If you think you can lead a walk on one of these dates, please contact Andy.

Evening walks. We have a couple of evening walks coming up in August, but are still looking for any other offers for September. If you are new to leading, this is a great way to stick your toe in the water! We usually programme these on a Friday or Saturday evening, they can be 4 or 5 miles and we sometimes finish at a pub (although that’s not essential!) Get in touch with Andy with your ideas!

See you out on a walk soon!
