Keeping in Touch - September
Our walks programme Thank you to all who have contributed to our programme so far this year. There have been some cracking walks and a wide variety. We are always trying to keep a balance of walks each month so that there is something to offer everyone in the group. We would also like to stress that the offers of walks come from you, the membership. So here are a few tips to help Andy W, our walks planner, do just that:
If you like doing certain types of walk, please offer us one!
If there’s an area you love walking in, please offer us a walk there!
When you have sorted a date with Andy W, let him know as soon as you can where your walk will be so that he can vary the areas each month.
Please also let him know as soon as you can what sort of walk it will be, ie. The distance and terrain – mileage and easy/moderate/strenuous
If you come out with the group a lot, do consider leading more than one walk a year.
This will all help to ensure that we can plan our programme well. Now, over to you! Where will your next walk be? Email Andy at firstname.lastname@example.org to get a date.
Dates vacant at present are as follows:
November 18th and 25th
December 2nd and 23rd
January 6th; 20th & 27th
Check out the diary and where others are leading walks on the members’ page of our website. https://www.singleboots.co.uk/walkscalendar
Ramblers Walking Partnership. Don’t forget that Single Boots is part of the Ramblers Walking Partnership. This means that if you book a holiday with Ramblers, you can tick a box on the booking form so that the club will receive a donation to our funds of £10 per person on UK holidays, £20 per person on short haul holidays, and £30 per person on long haul holidays. More information is available on the members’ pages of our website.
Social emails. Don’t forget our social email system allowing other members to join in on theatre trips, concerts, cinema visits, folk evenings, a meal out etc. Email all the details to Sandra at email@example.com and she will send it out to our members so they can join in the fun! It’s a great way to have company on your evenings out. We would like to ask that these emails do not include anything of a religious, political or fund-raising nature.
Thank you to Dave P and Mark L for leading the weekend in Bala at the beginning of August. They led two mountain walks which were very much enjoyed by all who went along. Members stayed in B&Bs and also camped. Mark and Dave are also leading the Lakes weekend on August Bank Holiday based in Eskdale. (Details on last month’s programme.)
