CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19) STATEMENT

Dear Single Boots members

I'm sure that we are all aware of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding Coronavirus (COVID 19) at the moment.

This week the Government has announced additional measures to control the spread of the Coronavirus and organistions are implementing these recommendations.

The Ramblers have suspended walks until the end of May 2020 Coronavirus - advice for members and volunteers - Ramblers

Single Boots will also be suspending all walks and weekends from the 18th March 2020 until the end of May 2020 when the committee will review the guidance and provide a further update. The club's AGM will also be postponed until a later date. The committee will also monitor the ongoing situation and update in the meantime as appropriate.

This will directly impact upon the Easter Snowdonia weekend which will not be run this year and the club's 'May Weekend Away'. Unfortunately the club will not be able to provide refunds for the weekend away or any costs incurred for the Easter weekend away. We have however managed to postpone the booking for the 2020 weekend away to 2021 and we have verbal confirmation from the owner of Stonebarrow Manor that this is acceptable. In these difficult times this is the best outcome for all concerned. Whilst this situation is most regrettable the health and wellbeing of our members now and going forward will be of paramount importance. Andy will be in contact to rearrange future dates for the walks affected.

With our personal 'Health and Wellbeing' in mind and knowing how important walking is to so many of us please see below the guidance on Walking independently.

Official Government advice states that, apart from people who are in households with symptoms or who have pre-existing health conditions that put them at increased risk of contracting COVID-19, going for a walk independently can continue and is an excellent way to maintain health and wellbeing - provided independent walkers stay more than two metres from others. Please see Public Health England’s guidelines on social distancing. Guidance on social distancing for everyone in the UK and protecting older people and vulnerable adults

For anyone walking in more remote areas, we continue to ask them to stay well within their limits, to avoid any need to call on mountain rescue or other emergency services

Last but by no means least we remain a friendly and strong club. I would ask that members reach out to the committee and friends within Single Boots if they are unwell and in need of assistance with shopping, medical items and let's not forget sometimes it is good to have a chat too. Hopefully by looking out for each other we can thrive in the face of adversity.

Many thanks for your understanding in this difficult and unprecedented time.
