October Walks

October 1, 2019

Sunday 6th October

Wall-under-Heywood, Nr Church Stretton

Moderate 9½ miles

We walk through delightful countryside and farmland to Hope Bowdler village from where we climb Hope Bowdler Hill providing spectacular views of the Shropshire Hills. A rural amble that will lift the spirits - rain or shine!

Sunday 13th October

Ragleth & The Long Mynd

Moderate 11 miles

The walk takes in the best of this area. Although hilly we have only two main climbs during the day and they are nice and steady. The views are wonderful from both high points and there is also a great feeling of being in the wilderness in some places.

Sunday 20th October

Forest of Dean

Easy 8½ miles

A walk through the Forest of Dean, with some wonderful views over the River Severn, near Lower Soudley, Two Bridges, Ayleford,  Brain’s Green, Upper Soudley, The Dean Heritage Centre, and back to the start. We might catch a glimpse of wild boar in the forest.

Sunday 27th October

Wye Walk 3 - Monmouth

Moderate 11 miles

This is the third in a set of 3 walks from Monmouth. We head out through the Castle Meadow park heading to the North East and Buckholt Hill (a short steep uphill strenuous path section included) to take coffee at the stile. Woodland, pasture land and the bridleway to Welsh Newton will bring us to lunch above Ganarew with views on a fine day to the distant Malvern Hills and close by Wye valley. We will return to Monmouth via Ganarew and the footpath along the banks of the river Wye
