Keeping in Touch - January

Hi there!

We would like to wish you all a

Happy New Year!

Christmas walk and social This year’s Christmas walk included a Rudolph and an Elf as well as a selection of Christmas hats and lights - it’s great to enter into the spirit of it! The weather (rain) wasn't too kind to us, after several hours our leader, Charles, decided that discretion is the better part of valour and we retreated to the warmth of the hall and a large pot of tea and nibbles. Following some fabulous soups, cheese and biscuits and some fantastic puddings we had some fun and games including a team quiz and pass the parcel.

Thank you to all who made the Christmas walk such a lovely occasion. Thank you to Charles for the walk and Helen and Colin for organising the food. Thank you also to Garth for being our quiz master extraordinaire and Dave P for the pass the parcel game.

Planning your next walk Thank you to all members who have come forward with walks for our winter months. We have one outstanding date in February which needs filling. Can you provide a walk on this day?

Otherwise, we are into our spring planning! Don’t forget you can check out vacant gaps in the diary on our website. Just log in to the members’ area and go to “Walking Calendar.”

Dates to fill are:

April 8th April 22nd April 29th

If you can fill one of these dates, email Andy on

A date for your diary Single Boots AGM will be on Sunday 15th April 2018. Please make a note in your new 2018 diaries to keep it free. Coming along to this event is a great way to keep in touch with what’s going on in Single Boots, and to have your say. Any proposed changes to the Constitution must be submitted to Jackie by 12th February. Our Constitution can be found in the members’ area of our website. Go to Admin and Governance and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Logging into our website Thank you to everyone who has logged in to our members’ area. It will help us enormously if we can get everyone to do so. At the moment, about 50% of our members are logged in. There is important information on there, and of course you can get a better idea of where there are gaps in our programme and where others have chosen for their location. Please make it a New Year’s resolution to log in!

Our weekend programme is looking very exciting this year. You should all have received an update of this from Andy by email. See which ones take your fancy, stick them in your diary and contact the walk leader to let them know you are interested. If for some reason you haven’t received it, do let Andy know.

There’s just a couple of spaces left for the following bookable weekends….book your place now!!

This is subsidised by the club and comes to you at a bargain cost of £10 a head. Hopefully you’ve all received an email and booking form about this and we very much hope that you will book onto it. Please let Jackie know if you didn’t get the email.

This is open to all full members and it’s first come first served with a limit of 12 participants on the day. If you’ve been before, no problem, it’s always good to refresh your skills. Get your form in soon!
