February Walks

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

Sunday 2nd February

Dunchurch & Draycote Water, near Rugby

Easy 9½ miles

After an easy walk around part of Draycote Water Park, the route passes into nearby countryside and on to the village of Dunchurch, where there are thatched cottages to be admired. The walk then proceeds to the village of Thurlaston and completes the remaining circuit of Draycote Water, offering the chance to see many waterbirds and colourful sailing boats.

Sunday 9th February

Milford Common

Easy 9 miles

We will take in Tixall Bridge, River Trent and canal, past Shugborough Hall and northern parts of Cannock Chase. Undulating terrain.

Sunday 16th February

May Hill from Newent Lake

Moderate 11 miles

May be Muddy, May be Misty, May be Frosty, May be Bright, May you be There, May you experience Cliff's walking Care. I plan lunch on the Hill, Coffee on the Way, great views of the Welsh Mountains, Malvern Hills, Bredon Hill and more on a fine day (so says the Ordnance Survey British Mainland trig stone 5151 graphic). This is a good walk out from lakeside and town onto forest tracks and country lanes.

Sunday 23rd February

Wenlock Edge

Easy/Moderate 9 miles

This walk along Wenlock Edge, from Presthope to Wilderhope Manor and returning on a different level on the other side, will provide great views of the Shropshire countryside in both directions. After the walk we can visit a pub in nearby Much Wenlock for refreshments.
