February Walks

Sunday 5th February 2017 Stonor & Wormsley Valley, Chiltern Hills (Moderate 12 Miles) This is a splendid saunter through the iconic beechwoods, secret hills, wonderful valleys and quiet villages of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is the area where the 101 Dalmatians (remember Cruella De Vil?) and Miss Marple

were filmed. The route will include parts of the Oxfordshire Way and of the Chiltern Way - a long distance path that a Single Boots member helped to create in 2000. Look out for red kites and deer. 450m of ascent. Refreshments can be obtained afterwards at the Fox and Hounds pub in Christmas Common.

Sunday 12th February 2017 Telford/Ironbridge (Easy 10 Miles) The walk takes place on rural sections of the network of paths through

woodland and former industrial sites. Path conditions should be relatively free from mud. (But prepare for the worst!) There are tea rooms and pubs adjacent to the end car park to allow a choice of refreshment to suit all tastes!

Sunday, 19th February 2017 Wyre Forest

(Easy 10 Miles) Walk through the Wyre Forest along Dowles Brook passing Knowles Mill, a preserved derelict mill owned by the National Trust. The mill dates from the 18th century and includes the frames of an overshot waterwheel. We will continue walking to join the River Severn, then walk along the river's edge through Bewdley town rising up and skirting Wharton Park Golf Club and back into the Wyre Forest.

Sunday 26th February 2017 Chaddesley Corbett (Easy/Moderate 10 Miles) Easy mostly flat walk with morning coffee stop outside historic Harvington Hall. Gently undulating fields and woodland. There are a couple of pubs to choose from at the end of the walk for refreshments.
