May Walks


Sunday 7th May Wenlock Edge Moderate 9 1⁄2 miles

We gradually climb the Shropshire Way and walk a level path along Wenlock Edge as far as Hilltop, having fine views ofThe Wrekin and to the west at various points. We descend and pass through the village of Hughley with fine views of theEdge to our right. A moderate climb back over meets the Shropshire Way leading back to the car park. A selection of tea rooms and pubs are available 3⁄4 mile away in Much Wenlock – a 15-minute walk or a 3-minute drive.

 

Sunday 14th May Croome Park, Worcester Easy 9 miles

If you have ever wondered about the eye-catching Panorama Tower between Junction 7 and 8 of the M5 then this is the walk for you! The estate was Capability Brown's first and favourite commission. An easy walk centred around the Croome Park National Trust property with the magnificent Malverns to the right and the beautiful Bredon Hill to the left. Wewill walk through Baughton and Kinnersley before re-entering the park to appreciate some of its important features and have time at the end to visit the house (pay if you are not a NT member), look around the grounds and enjoy the 1940'sstyle RAF restaurant if you wish.

 

Sunday 21st May Earlswood Lakes Easy 9 miles

A lovely stroll along the back lanes and through the fields and leafy woodlands of the area surrounding the Earlswood Lakes.

 

Sunday 28th May Bosbury, Oyster Hill, Wellington Heath & Coddington Easy/Moderate 10 miles

This is a varied, circular walk through fields, woods and secluded villages. There is an ascent of Oyster Hill which affords extensive views over Herefordshire and the Malverns. We also walk through the parkland of Hope End House where Elizabeth Barrett lived before eloping with Robert Browning. Refreshments at a traditional local pub at the end.
