Sunday 3rd December
Hook Norton
Easy 9 miles
Another walk through the rolling countryside of North Oxfordshire, passing through the villages of Hook Norton, Wigginton & Swerford with views of the distinctive Hooky Brewery, an old railway viaduct, ancient ironstone workings, the remains of a motte & bailey castle and other sites of local interest. Likely to be muddy/slippery in places.
Sunday 10th December
Mulled Wine & Mince Pie Walk, Broadway
Easy/Moderate 10 miles
Keeping up our yearly tradition, we will get into a festive mood with mulled wine & mince pies at Broadway Tower. We’ll make our way up to the tower for elevenses (mulled wine and mince pies provided, but a few “Sherpas” would be very welcome!). Our route will take us over to Dover’s Hill on the Cotswold Way and back to Broadway via Saintbury, giving us marvellous views all the way. Time to have refreshments, do any last minute Christmas shopping and admire the Christmas lights back in Broadway at the end.
Sunday 17th December
Christmas Walk, Bromsgrove/Redditch
Easy 8½ miles
A walk designed to work up an appetite for the goodies awaiting us back at the village hall. Bearing in mind that it will get dark fairly early with only 4 days left to the winter solstice (whoopee!) we will need to get away on time. Don't forget your torch. For anyone involved in preparations at the hall, there will be an opportunity to leave the walk after about 3 miles (coffee break) and take an easy shortcut back to base.
Sunday 24th December
Inkberrow
Easy 9 miles
Enjoy a relaxing later start, and join us on this jolly Christmas Eve walk, finishing with a cosy visit to the local Old Bull Archers pub.
Sunday 31st December
Welland
Moderate 7 miles
We partially descend the western slopes of the Malvern Hills to find a path that rises through woodland to The Kettle Sings Café and then move on to take coffee on the ridge of the Malvern Hills.
Following the ridge back towards the British Camp, this time to descend the eastern slopes via remnants of Little Malvern Prior that are now the Parish Church, we cross a large field on a well-established path leading to Upper Welland and St. Wulstan’s nature reserve. Exiting the nature reserve we cut back through a farmyard to The Marlbank Inn and take lunch. Our return is along a path that leads out over Castlemorton Common and up past the reservoir that feeds water to the village of Welland.
