February Walks

Sunday 4th February

Caer Caradoc

Moderate 12 miles

Come join us on this pleasant outing onto the beautiful Shropshire hills. On a clear day, there are great views across to Stiperstones and the Long Mynd. All this and the option to partake of some real ale at The Royal Oak pub with its wonderful welcoming open fires at lunchtime. What more could you ask for?

Sunday 11th February

Melbourne, Derbyshire

Moderate 9 miles

This lovely undulating walk takes us over farmland, through Dimminsdale Nature Reserve, where hopefully we’ll see plenty of snowdrops, through the Calke Abbey Estate and alongside Staunton Harold Reservoir. We will also enjoy fine views from St Mary & St Hardulph Church at Breedon-on-the-Hill which also houses some historic Anglo-Saxon sculptures.

Teashop for refreshments at the end of the walk.

Sunday 18th February

Bidford-upon-Avon

Easy 9 miles

Walk from Bidford-upon-Avon along the riverside and into Marlcliff where there is a beautiful display of snowdrops along the footpath and in an adjacent garden. Follow the River Avon to Middle Littleton and view the 13th Century Tithe Barn and return via Cleeve Prior. Footpaths may be muddy.

Sunday 25th February

Abberley

Moderate 9 miles

We climb up and over the hill to Great Witley and on to roughly the halfway mark where we double back and follow the Worcestershire Way along the now very familiar ridge with frequent views of the Teme Valley below.

For those that want a drink after the walk there is a pub in Abberley.
