July Walks

Sunday 1st July

Malvern

Moderate 9½ miles

This walk is at the quieter southern end of the hills and generally follows Shire Ditch and takes in the hamlet of Whiteleaved Oak.

Sunday 8th July

Martley

Easy/Moderate 9 miles

This walk follows part of the Worcestershire Way southwards, along the River Teme, climbs up to Rodge Hill, along the ridge then descends to walk through orchards and fields on the outskirts of Martley village, arriving back at the pub for drinks or coffee afterwards.

Sunday 15th July

Malvern

Easy/Moderate 12 miles

Set against the backdrop of the Malvern Hills this walk, mostly to the west of North Malvern, is across a hilly landscape that is a patchwork of pasture, woodland and orchard threaded by numerous brooks.

We visit two villages, each with its own Norman church, and spy a magnificent yew tree which is at least one thousand years old before taking an easy(ish) route up the north end of the Malvern Hills and along Lady Howard de Walden Drive as we make our return to the starting point.

Moderately hilly, occasionally steep and with numerous stiles. After the walk meet in the pub for a well-deserved drink.

Sunday 22nd July

Henley-in-Arden

Easy 10 miles

A walk through the fields and woods to the west of Henley-in-Arden. We walk on the Arden Way towards Bannam's Wood and then follow bridleways and lanes to the pretty little church at Oldberrow for a lunch stop. Returning past Wawensmere we head back to the starting point. The wearing of shorts is not recommended due to some overgrown paths.

Sunday 29th July

Derbyshire Bridge, Buxton

Moderate 10 miles

A route will be selected to suit the weather on the day but it will be a combination of moorland tracks and traffic-controlled roads and very pleasant valley walking around the Goyt Valley/Axe Edge areas. An option to attend one of the nearby pubs will be available for those in need of post-walk refreshment.
