December Walks

Sunday 2nd December

Knightwick

Easy 8¼ miles

The route follows the River Teme for a mile or so, before turning uphill at Horsham over fields and through the woods to a wonderful view of the Malvern Hills near Collins Green. Then we make our way across the fields on a short stretch of the Worcestershire Way to Berrow Green, where we can refresh ourselves at The Admiral Rodney, a very comfortable pub, which has Worcestershire Way bitter on tap. Back, deviously, to Horsham, where we retrace our steps to Knightwick.

Sunday 9th December

Broadway “Mulled Wine & Mince Pie” Walk

Moderate 9½ miles

Keeping up our yearly tradition, we will get into a festive mood with mulled wine & mince pies at Broadway Tower. We’ll make our way up to the Tower for elevenses (mulled wine and mince pies provided, but a few “Sherpas” would be very welcome!) Our route will take us over to Dover’s Hill on the Cotswold Way and back to Broadway via Saintbury giving us marvellous views all the way. Time to have refreshments, do any last minute Christmas shopping and admire the Christmas lights back in Broadway at the end.

Sunday 16th December Christmas Walk

Little Comberton

Moderate 8½/9 miles

We walk in the area of Bredon, climbing the hill in the morning giving us far-reaching views of the Vale of Evesham and an appetite for guilt-free mince pies later! We return via Elmley Castle. Please note this event is for fully paid up members only.

Sunday 23rd December

Hollybush (South of Malverns)

Easy 8 miles

Walking south around the perimeter of Ragged Stone Hill we cross gently rolling pasture and visit Bromsberrow Church which is home to two of the oldest flags in England (Civil War Banners); we take a stroll through the Capability Brown designed grounds of Bromsberrow Estate; take advantage of some wonderful views across the Severn Plain and return by walking up the gentle slope of Chase End Hill and back to the start by walking around the other side of Ragged Stone Hill. One short but steep slope down Chase End Hill – if wet you will need poles.

Sunday 30th December

Bewdley

Easy/Moderate 9½ miles

From Bewdley we take the Worcestershire way to Heightington, returning to Bewdley via Arley and Ribbesford Woods. There are inclines at the beginning and near the end of the route, therefore the walk is graded easy/moderate.
